‘what we call berries’, carved in diabase.
Five berries – or what we call berries – carved in black diabase: lingonberry, blueberry, juniper berry, aronia berry and yew berry. Diameter 43 cm. Not all berries called so are berries in botanical sense. This explains the title. A berry, or what we call a berry, is not only a round and soft edible little thing. Each berry has its own purpose and reason, appearing in proper, distinct and precise shapes.
Originally made for an exhibition in Kunsthal Nord in Aalborg in 2014. Later shown at Søgne Gamle Prestegård, Lillesand Art Society and Budsjord at Dovre. During an outdoor summer exhibition arranged by the Association of Norwegian Sculptors, the berries were purchased for the City of Oslo Art Collection. Autumn 2020, the five sculptures were finally placed in Skullerudbakken Kindergarten in Oslo.
